In an assembly line, very often, manual operations are carried out on work benches or in automatic lines. During these processes, the dimensions of the screws and their handling directly affect tightening time and therefore the productivity.

During the tightening, the pick & place operations (the manual picking and positioning of the screw carried out by the operator) cause a waste of time and a risk of losing the screw inside the component. The ideal solution, in this case, is to support “pick & place” operations with the use of an automatic screw feeder and a magnetic bit or a screw suction system. This solution avoids the use of both hands for the screw picking-up (pick) and positioning (place) operations.

These tightening solutions reduce cycle times, increase the productivity and facilitate the operator's work, generating the following advantages:

What is the screw suction system?

It is a device that secures the screw retain and make its positioning easier. This solution can be fitted on all Fiam air and electric tightening solutions for manual or automatic use.

How does it work?

Simply fit the special head on the screwdriver, connect it to the vacuum pump and the system is ready to run! Thanks to this solution, entirely designed and manufactured by Fiam, the screw is engaged on the tool bit through the negative pressure created by the vacuum pump. This allow an easy pick up and a firmly retention of the screw by its head, while it is moved for final tightening.
